@Swear_Bot is dead
I regret to inform you that @Swear_Bot is dead. The robot had a great run on Twitter, but in the end it was ThinkingLab's decision to shut it down.
Since the beginning we've gotten various emails and replies about swear_bot. Though some of these were positive reviews about its hilarity, most were unpleasant to read.
What Lead To The Death?
Well a few things. For one, it was a huge mistake opening @swear_bot's phrases to the public. Even worse was the way I neglected to check the phrases for spamming and indecent phrasing. Such things as "Kicking @user in the uterus" were extremely unpleasant. My bad, I apologize for that one. Other items include the fact that nobody really got swear_bot. It was meant to be a joke but people just got angry at it. It just wasn't fun any more.
What Will Happen To Swear_Bot on Twitter?
Swear_Bot's actual Twitter account will continue to be active. I think it's still fun to read through some of the thing it said during its run.
But I Love Swear_Bot, Can You Bring It Back?
Depending on if a response is given, yes. Without a positive response to Swear_Bot, it will never be turned back on.... unless of course I remodel it.
You Just Said Something About Remodeling Swear_Bot, WTF Does That Mean?
Basically it means if I have the time I would create Swear_Bot into a more user-friendly robot. You know the kind that you can actually hold a conversation with. It's difficult to create because it would need to pick up on characteristics.
Anything Else?
You can add me on Twitter if you're like to speak with me. Usually I respond pretty fast. Get at me, @bryall or send me an email using the contact form. And if you'd like to donate some money for pizza and beer or for open source software similar to this in the future, send me an email!
Thanks for the support.
